For the next nine weeks in Kids Connect, we’re setting up camp, Base Camp, that is!  At Base Camp, we’re going to be reminded of the importance of getting back to the basics of following Christ as we look at the life, teachings, and example of Jesus. Luke gives us some insight into how Jesus grew up. Luke 2:52 notes that Jesus grew in wisdom and in favor with God and others. Throughout our lives, we should also circle back to these ideas as we seek to live like Jesus.

These are the basics: Wisdom—I need to make the wise choice; Faith—I can trust God no matter what; Friendship—I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

The monthly memory verse is: “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men,” Luke 2:52, NIV.  When we respond to God and follow where He leads, we will see ourselves develop in wisdom, faith, and friendship. Then we will be able to set the example for other people.

On Wednesday, June 26th from 5-9 pm, we will be traveling to the FMSC packing facility in Vernon Hills, IL to package meals that will be sent around the world to children in need.  This is a fantastic service opportunity for kids going into 3rd grade this fall on up to serve along with their parents and other families.  This month, we will be collecting an offering each week to donate to Feed My Starving Children when we serve at the end of the monthIn KC, we will be challenging the kids to raise $80 in the next three weeks which will feed one child for a whole year!
